    • Well, Google's 'advertising optimization' has now become so distracting as to trick people into visiting other sites. So I have removed advertising until I can find a better solution. One option may be sponsorship, anyone interested?
  • Sponsorship!
    • We are very graitful to Neill, who supports BAMA in gratitute with his financial support
      • It's free to use, but every little amount helps keep it that way!

Instruction Manual, including circuit, for this 1960s 160m 10W AM/CW transmitter courtesy of Dave Gordon-Smith, G3UUR.

Labgear launched this small transmitter in 1964 to compete with the Codar AT5. It was named the 160 Twin because it could be easily detached from its mobile mount to be used in the main station with a mains power supply(E.5142). An unusual feature was its internal antenna change-over relay, which was rarely included in transmitters in the ‘50s and 60s.

Labgear offered a range of accessories for the 160 Twin, including a speech compressor(E.5143), microphone(E.5150), 160m mobile receive convertor(E.5144), transistorised mobile power supply(E.5141) and mobile whip antenna(E.5159).

I apologise for the quality of the scanned images of the 160 Twin manual, but the quality of the original manual was none too great!

-Dave, G3UUR
